Lessons Learned Building a Career in STEM
Growing up in the 1970s, STEM 鈥 in my case engineering and computer science 鈥 wasn鈥檛 a field women typically pursued. So when I showed up at Virginia Tech it was no surprise that I was one of the only women in my mechanical engineering class. Later on, at Boston University working on my Master鈥檚 Degree in computer science, the picture wasn鈥檛 much different. Although things have changed over the past decades, there鈥檚 certainly room for improvement.

FPT IS develops and operates the Digital Number Transfer System
